I tried but I could only modify the game speed. Anytime I tried modding stars or health it would break the game. I'll try again later. But no guarantees

Thanks. I saw a mod for the latest version doing the same, modifying game speed, but not sure how that would help any. If you're able to get the mod working with stars and not even diamonds, I'll up the reward.
