Samsung announced the Galaxy SmartTag object tracker in January 2021 and was supposed to unveil its successor at last month’s Galaxy Unpacked event in South Korea, but that didn’t happen. While there’s no news from Samsung about the Galaxy SmartTag 2, we do know it’s in the works and has just been certified by Thailand’s NBTC, bringing it closer to launch.
The Thai Certificate Authority is not revealing anything new about the Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 2 as we know that it has the EI-T5600 model designation and Ultra Wideband (UWB) support from previous certifications.

The original SmartTag didn’t support UWB, but SmartTag+ did. This time around, Samsung will likely only release a version with Bluetooth and UWB connectivity.
