Google usually pushes monthly updates to its devices on the first Monday of every month, but, for whatever reason, that wasn’t the case this time. The company waited until the third Monday of the month, but the big update for the Pixel Watch is finally out today.
This is the one that has drop detection support, and it was the most publicized new feature, but it’s far from the only one in the changelog. So let’s dive into what else is new.
Even when your Pixel Watch is off because the battery is low, you can still get the time displayed by pressing the crown. This will show a digital clock next to the red low battery indicator.
The always-on display can be activated in the settings or companion app and also by turning the crown. The screen turns on when the AOD is turned off and the display is illuminated in ambient mode. Touchscreen sensitivity has been improved, there is now single-tap support for Battery Saver, and there are new color correction and grayscale modes in display settings.
In the coming weeks, Google will roll out an update to the Clock app via the Play Store, which will fix issues with alarms sounding too early or too late.
