Both of Google’s new phones, which were announced a couple of weeks ago, have already undergone very detailed video teardowns. But as you may know, the company also unveiled the Pixel Watch at the same event, and if you’ve been looking forward to a wearable device teardown, you’re in luck as that’s exactly what the folks at iFixit have been treating us today.

The teardown reveals a very interesting first generation package. The Pixel Watch is pretty much a kind of puzzle. On the one hand, it has a removable back, something Apple has taken multiple generations to do for its wearables. Some parts, however, such as crown and button, seem irreplaceable, which obviously hinders repairability.

The Pixel Watch also comes with a very unique and distinctive adhesive on the inside, one that leaves no residue when removed. On a side note, someone from Google should probably inform iFixit that Wear OS hasn’t been known as Android Wear for quite some time now. Hence, there is no “Android watch”. Ultimately, it seems the wearable gets a lift, with guts improvements expected by possible future generations.
