With the January update, Google brought native support for Spatial Audio to Google Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 7 and 7 Pro. This adds directional filters to sound and simulates a surround sound experience when listening to music or watching content from supported apps. Now, the latest update to the Google Pixel Buds app offers a hidden menu called “Spatial Audio”.

Pixel Buds Pro's latest update prepares it for Spatial Audio with a head tracking demo

The menu, discovered by 9to5Google contains switches to enable Spatial Audio and Head Tracking features. There’s also a demo built into the app’s settings to preview what enabling the feature sounds like. A disclaimer at the bottom of the menu reminds you that the feature only works with supported content.

The Google Pixel Buds should receive a firmware update that enables head tracking soon enough. It will likely be part of the upcoming Pixel Buds Pro Feature Drop update, which is expected to arrive in March.
