Google’s recently unveiled Pixel Watch 2 has been running the new Wear OS 4 since the beginning, and now it’s finally time for its predecessor to join the Wear OS 4 party. Starting today, Google pushes out the update to Wear OS 4 to last year’s original Pixel Watch, which until now was running Wear OS 3.5.

As usual with Google’s software updates, the rollout is gradual and it may take weeks for it to reach all available units. The new build number, for all Pixel watches globally, is TWD4.2301005.002.

Wear OS 4 includes support for transferring your Watch to a new phone when you switch, without having to do a factory reset. Instead, the new Backup and Restore feature helps you securely back up data and settings from an old Pixel Watch and restore them to a new Pixel Watch if you switch wearables, not phones.

There’s also a new Google Calendar app, a new text-to-speech engine for a more reliable TalkBack experience, improved notifications with intelligent phone number and address link recognition and built-in media previews, and new security features: Security Check , emergency sharing, and emergency information on your Pixel Watch.
