A very rare phone has just arrived at headquarters – or should we say a very high-tech fashion accessory. With the leather case strap attachment, the Honor V bag definitely looks the part.
Despite its limited launch in China, the phone generated genuine interest when it launched in September and drew quite a few “wow”s.

The strap accessory comes in a separate box, while the phone itself comes with a 35W charger and USB cable.
The case accessory attaches to the frame of the V Purse and is not easy to remove. We don’t expect it to drop unexpectedly at any time. The chain itself is made of a soft material that won’t scratch the display – it’s not metal.

The Honor V Purse is an outward-folding phone, just like some devices in the Huawei Mate Tap the clasp on the back and the rest of the screen folds forward, revealing a 7.71-inch 2348x2016px panel with a 10.5:9 aspect ratio. The screen refreshes at 90Hz.
There isn’t much crease either which makes the open screen look really gorgeous. The Honor V bag is also very thin: 8.6 mm when closed and just 4.3 mm when open. The Honor V bag also weighs just 214g, which is surprising for a horizontal folding phone and lower than some bar phones.
An outward folding design means the phone has the soft foldable display exposed, which leads to some durability issues. But the design and its mechanics are truly fascinating.

You can choose between 6.45 inches and 7.71 inches
A word about the Honor V bag as a phone. It uses a Snapdragon 778G chip with 16GB of RAM. There’s a relatively large 4,500mAh battery with 35W wired charging. As for the camera, you get a 50MP f/1.9 wide-angle and an 8MP fixed-focus ultrawide. There is also an 8 MP selfie camera, but selfies can of course also be taken with the main cameras.
The phone runs Android 13 plus Honor’s MagicOS 7.2. There are some multitasking improvements built in, but they’re not as advanced as on the Galaxy Z Fold5 or OnePlus Open (and Oppo Find N3). Open an app in full screen, then drag and hold sideways to display a menu to view more apps on the screen.

The locking mechanism
When folded, the Honor V bag has a screen-only left edge that is incredibly smooth to the touch. We’ll keep it away from abrasive surfaces, but we expect that most people will appreciate the feel of it in the hand.
