Animal Crossing: New Horizons celebrates its first anniversary with an update on March 18th

Nintendo has revealed that it will celebrate the first anniversary of Animal Crossing: New Horizons with a new update, which will include an additional 50 custom designed slots for players to use.

The new content will launch on March 18 and will allow players to access a selection of new items and features for use within the game. Specifically, the update will add a first anniversary cake, an update to the Custom Design Pro Editor, several new seasonal items for spring, a custom design portal, and Sanrio Sweetness amiibo cards.

The amiibo cards will be available exclusively in the United States at Target stores, priced at $ 5.99. The six figures will then allow players to add the famous Sanrio characters directly to the island. Exchanging bells with these characters will reward users with special Sanrio-inspired cosmetic items.

Below are Nintendo’s full descriptions for each of the additions coming to Animal Crossing: New Horizons in the coming weeks.

• 1st anniversary cake – Nook Inc. made a 1st anniversary cake to commemorate the occasion. It will be sent to your in-game inbox after installing the update.
• Custom design pro editor + – The Custom Design app on your NookPhone is receiving an update. Use your Nook miles at the Nook stop in Resident Services to unlock the feature. It will provide a more robust set of features, allowing for customization of umbrellas, flags, uchiwa and photo stands. And with a new expansion of 50 slots added to both Normal Custom Design and Pro Custom Design modes, you can really let your imagination run wild!
• Custom design portal – You can now add the custom design portal found in the Able Sisters store directly to the in-game NookPhone app. You will be able to use it whenever inspiration strikes.
• Seasonal items – Spring is in the air and as the seasons change comes a range of new seasonal items. Just in time for April Fool’s Day, a variety of whoopee pillow colors can be ordered from the in-game Nook Shopping service between March 26 and April 1. For something a little more elegant, you can get ready for prom season with themed fashion items at the Able Sisters store from April 1st to April 30th. You can also order themed items from Nook Shopping during this time, such as a wall prom night, prom night floor, and prom night stash. Never miss a chance to dance!
