As tends to be the case in these games, killing enemies rewards XP for leveling up, which in turn grants skill points. Grim Dawn offers the chance to specialize in one of seven Masters, with each category containing a vast skill tree filled with flashy attacks and spells. Basically, dual-class mastery unlocks at level 10, increasing the number of potential builds from 7 to 28.

Want to unlock even more skills? Cairn is dotted with shrines waiting to be restored. Once you offer the necessary items or eliminate the enemies that spawn, you earn a Devotion point which can be used to upgrade a passive skill system that revolves around special pet attacks or stat boosts. This largely secondary mechanic is incredibly complete.

Final verdict

Grim Dawn will not convert any unbelievers. That said, anyone who is already in love with ARPGs is bound to enjoy Crate Entertainment’s modern design. Titan Quest’s similarities are too obvious to ignore, but Grim Dawn improves upon her ancestor.
