The goal of the council is to go and provide users with rules that are clear and that respect their rights. This provision had been awaited for a long time but it seems the push was given by a censored post of an account that was part of a transgender couple. That post was meant to raise money to have a surgery done. Specifically, the post contained a photo of a bare chest with nipples covered, information about the intervention breast and the donation link.
The content was first removed following various reports and then restored after the couple’s appeal. This post led the Oversight Board to reflect on the criteria that lead to censoring content. In fact, the rules have been defined as unclear when it comes to non-binary, transgender and intersex people. For this reason, the will of the security council is to give new rules that go to respect the rights.
Therefore, in all likelihood Instagram will not become like Only fans but the social network is ready to change and give more space to certain types of content, always with respect for human rights.
