The Epic Games Store will soon level up with the social features required by players. This includes Discord-style voice and text chat, and even a party system for players.

All of these new features are part of Epic’s mission to seriously compete with major platforms like Steam. And in a recent blog post, Epic detailed its plans to take things to the next level.

Adding text and group chat is part of Epic’s short-term plans. These plans also include better social search features, customizable player cards, and even a Do Not Disturb feature. Unfortunately, we don’t know exactly when any of these new features will be released.

Epic makes the upcoming party system easy to use. Since the parties have no designated hosts, players can come and go as they please. Teammates share party controls, and players can use a dedicated party window to share game highlights and continue chatting with each other as they launch and play.

Sad news is that Epic is ditching their rarely used Whisper feature. However, they hope to bring it back at some point in the future.

For Epic fans, all of this is great news. These moves show the company’s commitment to improving your experience by providing “more features that connect you to your friends and the games you love.”

Will you party with your friends in the Epic Games Store once these features go live? Let us know in the comments!
