Android 13 introduced a new way to switch audio playback between wireless speakers using the new lock screen widget and updated notification. It currently works for YouTube and YouTube Music, but Google and Spotify just announced they’re working together to enable it for Spotify Connect devices as well.
The Google team is also working on making this feature smarter and making it easier to move between different places with different speakers. Imagine you start listening to a podcast in your car. Once you’ve arrived at your destination and stepped out of the car, a notification will appear allowing you to quickly switch to headphones. Then, when you get home, the same notification will pop up again offering you to switch to TV or a speaker.

Smart notifications are coming to Android to help you switch music playback easily
The technology that makes this work has three levels. First, your phone will detect which devices are near you via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and UWB. The second level will recognize the capabilities of these devices to figure out which one is best suited to the content you are playing. The third and final level will adjust the operation of the entire system based on your interactions with these devices.
