It’s been less than a week since Apple launched the iPhone 14 lineup, and users have reported violent camera shake when opening the camera on some third-party apps. The issue is now fixed as an iOS 16.0.2 update is now rolling out to iPhone earlier than expected.

The camera shake was apparently caused by the second generation sensor shift OIS system in the iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max’s main camera. Some users have reported strong vibrations and screeching noises coming from the camera when opening a non-Apple app that used the camera and made the camera unusable for these apps. This did not affect my iPhone 14 Pro personal unit.

Other fixes were also issued with the update. There have been some complaints about the new copy / paste prompt that comes with iOS 16. It asked users for permission to copy and paste content between apps and its frequency apparently annoyed some users.
The update also addresses an issue that apparently interrupted touch input for some users with touch input not responding following a display replacement affecting the iPhone X, XR, and iPhone 11.
The update is now available on all supported iPhones. To update, go to Settings> General> Software Update.
