Apple will likely use reality in naming the next mixed reality headset as per a new set of patents. A new Bloomberg the report details three separate patents for Reality One, Reality Pro and Reality Processor. These are the likely names for the two versions of Apple’s MR / AR headset and its processing unit. Previous applications have also revealed a realityOS patent coverage which is very likely for the headset’s operating system.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office shows Immersive Health Solutions as the patent holder for Reality One. Apple and other large companies often use shell companies to file patents to keep their upcoming projects under wraps. Similar “Reality” patent applications have also been filed in Canada, the UK, the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Costa Rica and Uruguay.

Apple’s mixed reality headset will reportedly offer VR and AR versions of Apple’s apps, including FaceTime and Maps, as well as options for consuming VR media, sports and gaming. Apple is not expected to announce its mixed reality headsets at next week’s Far Out event on September 7. The latest rumor from Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the MR headphones will launch in January 2023.
