Google has announced an intriguing new feature on its blog: toll prices while browsing. The feature will be available for nearly 2,000 toll roads and is expected to be available on Android and iOS devices.

The estimated toll price for the destination will be collected “based on reliable information from the local toll authorities”, including specific details on whether or not the road has a toll, what day of the week it is and what time the toll will be crossed at.

Google Maps will still allow users to mark “Avoid tolls” in settings and will also offer price changes based on payment method.

The feature will first appear in India, Indonesia, Japan, and the United States, and more countries will follow soon.
