Honor presented the V Purse concept in Berlin during IFA two weeks ago. We’ve wondered whether the outward-folding smartphone that can be worn like a bag will ever make it to store shelves, but now we have the answer.

Yang Yang, a famous Chinese actor, holds the phone and confirms the announcement date. He invited the public to attend a fashion show on September 19 in Shanghai, where the V Purse will be unveiled before Honor’s home crowd.

The invitation and all related social media posts are about a show or presentation – there’s no word on its specifics, but that’s probably understandable given the audience it’s aimed at. We’re eight days away from the event where we’ll no doubt hear more about the V Purse as it prepares to go from concept to commercial smartphone.

We have already been able to see (but not touch) the Honor V bag in Berlin. The concept resembles the Huawei Mate Xs 2 and its wraparound display, cameras, and one-click open button. We also saw a trendy case that made the device look even more like a clutch bag.

At the time, Honor had talked about the possibility of launching the phone in China before the end of the year, but it seems that the launch would happen sooner than expected. An international launch seems unlikely for this one though.
