introduction

Discover the best smartphone in the world, one you can’t buy: the Oppo Find X6 Pro. The new generation Find flagship introduces a refined design, the most exclusive OLED panel, the fastest chip available, 100W fast charging and a trio of premium 50MP cameras with the largest of sensors and with Hasselblad Color Calibration.

Indeed, Oppo’s flagship in 2023 is one, if not the best phone in the world, but there’s a catch: it’s only available in China. Just like most Xiaomi Ultra models, the Find X6 Pro employs everything that is considered cutting-edge at its launch, but the manufacturer currently has no plans to release it outside its homeland.

Oppo Find X6 Pro review

We admit that we have been very intrigued by the Oppo Find X6 Pro since its preview, so it was natural to review this smartphone as soon as possible. And, oh well, even if Oppo doesn’t expand its availability, the phone is still purchasable through various retailers, so why not at least consider it?

The Oppo Find X6 Pro is the ultimate complete package for a flagship, at least judging by its specifications. The design of the phone is a combination of Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and Gorilla Glass 5 or faux leather, there is a metal frame and a special metal ring around the camera island. Oh, and the whole thing is IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.

The 6.82-inch OLED screen uses a 1440p LTPO3 panel with a 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, and Dolby Vision support. This screen is capable of 1,500 nits of maximum brightness and up to 2,500 nits of peak brightness. This latest generation LTPO should enable excellent upgrade adaptability and reduce strain on battery life.

We also like the flagship hardware. The Find X6 Pro is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, there is also plenty of RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The phone also comes with a large 5,000mAh battery and support for wired (100W) and wireless (50W) fast charging.

But nowadays cameras are usually the most intriguing aspect of a high-end smartphone and this is also the case with the Find X6 Pro. There are three 50MP cameras on the back: a 1.0″ primary, one of the very few on the market. The ultrawide and telephoto are based on large 1/1.56″ sensors, some of the largest mounted on such cameras. Oppo claims its periscope telephoto lens is also the most stable on the market.

There’s a lot more to talk about, so let’s quickly skim through the specs and get to work.

  • Various: Fingerprint reader (under display, optical); Infrared port; stereo speakers.

Well, the only thing that doesn’t look high-end is the selfie camera. It’s blasphemy for such a cameraphone to use a 32MP Quad-Bayer front-facing camera, worse still, one that’s limited to 1080p video capture. It’s 2023 and such mediocre shooters should have been limited to mid-range series, but instead we’re seeing them in ridiculously many flagship devices. Come on!

And with that out of the way, let’s unpack the new Oppo Find X6 Pro.

Oppo Find X6 Pro unboxing

The Find X6 Pro ships inside a black paper box, which contains a 100W SuperVOOC charger and a 10A USB-A-to-C cable.

But that is not all. The bundle also contains a case that copies the back of the phone – it has the same split design with a gray top and brown faux leather bottom. The top of the case is plastic (the top of the phone is glass), but we still appreciate these extra steps and are pleased that many users will be able to keep the iconic design even when using a case.

By the way, the Black and Green models, which have all-glass back panels, also come with matching black/green plastic cases in the same matte finish.
