A Zenfone 9 user contacted Asus tech support regarding unlocking the bootloader on their smartphone, and in response, Asus said that unlocking the bootloader would not be possible for the Zenfone 9 and Zenfone 10. Also the unlocking tool of the bootloader is not available, which suggests that Asus would no longer allow unlocking the bootloader on its smartphones. However, a response from the Taiwanese brand PR representative to XDA Developersformer editor-in-chief Mishaal Rahman is reassuring, even if it’s still vague.
Rahman’s Asus PR contact said the company’s customer support “misunderstood the situation,” and while the unlock tool isn’t currently available, Asus “allows the ability to unlock” the bootloader on its phones.
Asus ZenFone 10
This is good news, but Asus has not disclosed the reason for the unavailability of the bootloader unlock tool nor provided any timeline for the availability of this tool for the Zenfone 9 and Zenfone 10, so all users of these smartphones can doing well is now expected for the Taiwanese tech company to re-release the bootloader unlock tool.
