Review: Big Hunter - Unlimited Currency Mod by KDMT
In Big Hunter, you are the leader of a tribe of hungry people who rely on your hunting skills to keep them fed, and to get ivory for trade. Your job is to take down mammoths, rhinos, smilodons, and other beasts using only the primitive weapons available to you.
The interface is pretty simple, designed to be played with the thumbs. Tapping on the right side of the screen backs you away from the creature you are hunting, giving you room to throw your weapon, and dragging down on the left side where your tribesman is lets you aim and fire your shot. As you progress through the story mode, you will face a variety of challenges - taking down the creature in a limited time, with a limited number of weapons, accurately hitting weak spots, etc. Killing the creature not only progresses you to the next level, but also awards you with ivory, which can be used to buy new weapons - of which there is a very large variety, from the simple spear you start with to handfuls of rocks (one option is to rapid fire seven rocks for each throw), boomerangs, sickles, throwing knives, shurikens, bows, blowguns, and axes.
KDMT’s mod comes in handy here, because those weapon choices cost a lot of ivory, and to get some of the more interesting weapons would take quite a lot of grinding to be able to afford them. KDMT’s mod sets your ivory total super high from the start, more than enough to buy any weapon you want to check out. Each one plays a little differently though, so practice makes perfect.
In all, Big Hunter is a simple casual game that is enjoyable for a while, that quickly becomes quite difficult, as the creatures you hunt become more aggressive, more active, have stronger defenses, and take more hits to bring down. Definitely not a game you will find yourself playing for days on end, but enjoyable enough for when you need to burn a few minutes while waiting on something else. At the highest levels, however, it becomes extremely challenging, even frustrating, to see your shots bounce off uselessly as the animal charges in to take you out.
I highly recommend using the legendary sickle as your weapon, it has a very good feel to it, has the power to take out the larger beasts in less shots, and it works well when fired in a high arc to clear the tusks and horns of mammoths and rhinos, while still arching back down for a solid head shot. The blowgun is also a great weapon, however it does limited initial damage, and the damage over time from the poison is pretty weak when you get to the later stages and creatures have thousands of HP to burn through.
