XMPP Features
Conversations works with all XMPP servers. However, XMPP is an extensible protocol. These extensions are also standardized in so-called XEPs. • XEP-0198: Stream Management allows XMPP to survive minor network outages and changes to the underlying TCP connection.
• XEP-0280: Message Carbons that automatically synchronizes messages sent to your desktop client, allowing you to easily switch from your mobile client to your desktop client and vice versa in a single conversation.
• XEP-0237: List versioning primarily to save bandwidth on low-quality mobile connections.
• XEP-0313: Message Archive Management synchronizes message history with the server. Track messages sent while Conversations were offline.
• XEP-0352: Indication of the client's status allows the server to know whether conversations are in the background or not. Allows the server to save bandwidth by retaining unimportant packets.
• XEP-0363: file upload allows you to share files in conferences and with offline contacts. Requires an additional component on your server.
