@Sbenny, tried installing this on pixel 8, receiving "You can't install this app on your device". it is not related to "install from unknown sources", as that is enabled. I suspect it has to do with something about x32 vs x64? any advice?

Yes, this mod, like 99% of the mods we have, is compatible with arm32 devices only. Your phone has a software block which prevents the installation of these mods, so you need to install this on a different device or Android Emulator.

I'm not sure why, but my app keeps crashing. Any way to fix this? I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but it hasn't helped.

If it keeps crashing it's probably not compatible with your device. Did you try with another phone and/or an Android Emulator on your PC?

inware app said my device support arm64-v8a, armeabi-v7a, armeabi. does it mean my device is not arm32 because the game kept crashing?

No, if your device wasn't arm compatible, the app wouldn't install at all. I'm not sure about the reason of your issues, as the mod works fine on my phone, I just tested it on a Honor Magic5 Lite.
