Honor has just announced its third generation foldable phone – the Magic V2. It is a true marvel of design at just 9.9mm in its folded state (4.7mm unfolded) and weighs 231 grams.
Magic V2 is 9.9 mm thick when folded and weighs 231 grams
For reference, the thinnest foldable up to this point was the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 which measures 11.2mm in its folded state and weighs 262 grams.
The Magic V2’s other clean design element is its gearless unibody hinge mechanism that uses a 3D printed titanium alloy cover developed by Honor. The folding mechanism also uses custom short screws in the hinge component. There is no official ingress protection, but Honor has confirmed that the Magic V2 features P2i coating on all internal elements that protect it from accidental water splashes.
Magic V2 boasts a 7.92-inch LTPO OLED main screen with a resolution of 2,156 x 2,344 px and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The panel is HDR 10+ compatible and can churn out up to 1,600 nits of brightness in automatic mode. Honor has also added high-frequency PWM dimming at 3,840Hz for flicker-free animations.
