MWC Shanghai is taking place right now, and Honor CEO George Zhao gave a speech on innovation and evolution in the world of mobile phones. During his speech, he revealed that his company will launch the new Honor Magic V2 on July 12th. According to the executive, the new phone “will revolutionize the folding experience”.
When Honor launched the Magic Vs, it was an improvement over the first Magic V with a 10% lighter body and an overhauled hinge. The CEO didn’t reveal what would make the V2 so revolutionary, but we expect the company to cover up some of the drawbacks of its predecessors. We hope to see waterproofing, some wireless charging, and more features in a folded-in-half state.
We already heard the July 12 date in a rumor last week. The source said that AMOLED LTPO will have a higher refresh rate with high frequency PWM dimming. The phone may come in two versions, one with last summer’s Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 and the other with the current flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Hopefully, Honor will share more details and features in the days leading up to the release.
