Tally Ho is a text-first interactive novel from Choice of Games that leans on character, consequence and the slow arithmetic of social life. The app keeps the spotlight on prose and decision-making: you read, you choose, and the story bends around the person you decide to be. Choices alter relationships, reputations and practical abilities, which makes each playthrough feel like an experiment in temperament as much as tactics.
The writing in Tally Ho favors observation over spectacle. Scenes unfold through dialogue, interior thought and the reputations you accumulate, and the rhythms of conversation and consequence matter as much as any single dramatic moment. Players will spend time planning, weighing options and living with the results; the game rewards thoughtfulness and invites multiple attempts to see how small shifts change outcomes.
Mechanics are discreet and text-focused, with underlying statistics that respond to your choices and open or close opportunities in believable ways.
What stands out is how the narrative frames social maneuvering as something almost practical — a set of skills you can learn, practice and, occasionally, weaponize. Companionships and rivalries develop gradually, and alliances can be fragile. Romance is possible but not mandatory; other objectives, from reputation-building to personal growth, are available and matter. Because choices influence both immediate scenes and future possibilities, replaying Tally Ho reveals different facets of the world and of the characters you meet.
The app feels made for readers who like to inhabit a role rather than hustle toward an ending.
The branches are neither random nor mechanical; they reflect consistent human motives and the consequences of risk and conservatism. If you enjoy branching narrative, stat tracking that affects story options, and writing that privileges social detail and moral ambiguity, Tally Ho will repay patience with texture and consequence.
Tally Ho is best approached slowly: consider how you answer, who you trust and what kind of reputation you want to build. Each decision accumulates, and the cumulative effect is what makes the experience resonate across multiple playthroughs. If you appreciate interactive fiction that treats choices as character work rather than just plot levers, this offers a quietly satisfying place to explore.
