The Redmi 12 series is arriving in India today at a true international unveiling. We expect no less than two phones – the already known Redmi 12 4G and a variant with 5G capabilities that will have at least a different chipset, enabled for next-gen mobile networks.
The event begins at 12 PM IST, which is 6:30 UTC. There is a live stream on YouTube, which you can find below.
The Redmi 12 has a Helio G88 chipset, and we were unimpressed in our review with the odd choice for Xiaomi to pick such a dated chipset. Its 5G variant is expected to have a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, which is a massive upgrade; however, the ultra-wide camera is likely gone, as the phone appeared with only two shooters in official images.
Some might say Redmi 12 5G is the same as the Redmi Note 12R, but we have to wait for the event to confirm or deny these rumors.

We already know the Redmi 12 4G will cost around INR12,500 ($155), and rumors suggested it will be €199 once it reaches Europe.
