Between the ongoing popularity of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and The Witchr show on Netflix, the property is hotter than ever. And now, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that they are working on The Witcher 4.
This great news comes straight from CD Projekt Red in a press release that sheds light on concrete details. For example, we still don’t know what the game will be called or when it will come out. But there are enough details to get fans excited.
For example, The Witcher 4 will use Unreal Engine 5, so the franchise will look better than ever. Furthermore, the developers have promised that they will kick off a new saga for the franchise and a new technology partnership with Epic Games. Don’t worry too much about that Epic partnership, though, like CD Projekt Red claimed on Twitter, “We’re not going to make this game exclusive to a store.”

Along with the announcement itself, the developers released a teaser image in which fans speculate on the possible meaning. For example, the official announcement doesn’t make it clear whether this fourth game will also focus on Geralt of Rivia or not. The medallion in the teaser image looks like the one that belongs to our favorite Witcher, but it could easily belong to other Witchers from the School of the Wolf or the School of the Cat.
While CD Project Red had little to say about The Witcher 4 storyline, they had a lot to say about the Epic collaboration. And whether you like Epic Games or not, it looks like this partnership means big things for the future of the Witcher franchise.
“It is crucial for CD PROJEKT RED to have the technical direction of our next game decided from the earliest possible stage; in the past, we have spent a lot of resources and energy to evolve and adapt REDengine to each successive version of the game, “said company CTO Paweł Zawodny.” This cooperation is so exciting, because it will increase the predictability and efficiency of development, while granting us access to cutting-edge game development tools. “
Reading between the lines, it appears that CD Projekt Red is still very much aware of the numerous glitches and glitches that plagued the much-acclaimed launch of Cyberpunk 2077. And the collaboration with Epic means The Witcher 4 can take flight.
