Oppo today announced a trio of Reno9 smartphones: a vanilla Reno9 with Snapdragon 778G, a Reno9 Pro that shares the same body but runs on Dimensity 8100, and a powerful Reno9 Pro+ with Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset and triple cameras on the back.

The Reno9 Pro and Reno9 Pro+ both launched with 16GB of RAM as a base option, a first for the Reno series and a feature we haven’t seen in an Oppo phone since the flagship Find X3 Pro, which launched over 1.5 years ago .

The trio’s vanilla smartphone carries a 6.7-inch AMOLED display with Full HD+ resolution. It supports a refresh rate of 120Hz and a touch sample rate of 240Hz.

The 10-bit panel has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage and achieves brightness of up to 800 nits in normal mode and up to 950 nits when viewing HDR photos and HDR10+ video content.

The back of the phone has a similar design to the Reno8 series, but this time the camera island is flush with the rest and only the lenses are protruding. The dual camera has 64MP main and 2MP black and white sensors, while up front is a 32MP selfie shooter with autofocus.

The battery has a capacity of 4,500mAh and supports fast charging up to 67W with the adapter provided in the box. Other specs include ColorOS 13 based on Android 13 out of the box, a 174 gram lightweight body that is also just 7.2mm thick at the base, not including the cameras.

The Oppo Reno9 is offered in four colors: black, gold, pink gradient and red. Prices are CNY 2,499 ($350/€335) for the 8/256GB variant, CNY 2,699 ($378/€363) for the 12/256GB version, and CNY 2,999 ($420/€ 403) for 12/512GB drives. Oppo is currently accepting reservations on its website and the first sale will take place next week on December 2nd.

Oppo Reno9 Pro

The Pro family member has a lot in common with the regular Reno9: they share the same thin and light body, 4,500mAh battery, and 6.7-inch AMOLED screen.

Mediatek’s 5nm Dimensity 8100 chipset is the most important difference, the other is the camera configuration and the presence of MariSilicon X NPU, Oppo’s platform for advanced image processing, enhanced 4K Night video and 4K video Ultra HDR.

The Reno9 Pro has a 50MP f/1.8 main shooter with 7P lens and AF and an 8MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera with 112-degree FoV. The selfie camera has the same 32MP sensor as the vanilla one.

While the vanilla smartphone has the fastest LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage only in the more expensive version, here these are available in 16/256GB and 16/512GB variants.

Oppo Reno9 Pro is available in black, gold and gradient pink. Prices are CNY 3,499 ($490/€470) or CNY 3,799 ($532/€510), depending on the storage selected. Pre-sales are in order, with sales starting on December 2nd.

Oppo Reno9 Pro+

The star of the show is the Plus member of the family. On the front, it has the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display and 32MP selfie camera, but this phone is curved, reducing its bulk.

Oppo has kept the distinctive design on the back, although here it has had to elevate the whole camera island. The 50MP f/1.8 main camera has a 6P lens, AF and OIS. The ultrawide shooter has an 8MP sensor with a wider field of view – 120 degrees – and doubles as a macro cam for close-up images (up to 4cm). The third opening is for the 2MP depth sensor.

The Reno9 Pro+ is technically the first phone with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset that also has the MariSilicon X NPU, even the flagship Find X5 Pro sits on the previous and non-plus version of the Qualcomm chip. The Oppo’s AI capabilities, boosted by the chipset, would bring a substantial improvement in color quality and clearer details.

The phone is slightly thicker and heavier, and that’s because the battery capacity has increased: 4,700mAh. It also supports 80W fast charging via USB-C and Oppo includes the adapter in the box.

The Reno9 Pro+ is available in Black and Gold colors, and we also have an exclusive Mint Green option here that looks stunning in the pictures. All three colors are available in 16/256GB storage at CNY 3,999 ($560/€537), while the first two paint jobs are also available in 16/512GB storage at CNY 4,399 ($ 616/€590).

Oppo is already taking pre-orders on its website. Sales will start on December 2nd.
