Redmi by Xiaomi yesterday unveiled a bunch of new devices: Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 5G, Redmi Note 12 Pro and Redmi Note 12 Pro+, that is. Yet, the sub-brand has also recently made two other laptops official, albeit in this case very silently, simply by adding them to the Mi global site.
We are talking about Redmi A2 and Redmi A2 +, and these are of a much, much lower range than the others. The Redmi A2 has a 6.52-inch 720×1600 touchscreen, is powered by MediaTek Helio G36 SoC paired with 2 or 3GB of RAM, has 32GB of expandable storage, an 8MP rear camera with a QVGA auxiliary lens beside it, a 5MP selfie snapper and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging support. A 10W charger comes in the box, and charging is done via microUSB, believe it or not.

Redmi A2
The “barely believable” theme continues with the software. This phone is running Android 12 (Go Edition). So it probably won’t surprise you to find that there’s no 5G support built in. There is, however, a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Redmi A2+
The Redmi A2+ appears to be more of the exact same device, but with only one added feature: a fingerprint sensor, which is located on the back. Both will of course be sold cheap wherever they end up being offered. You can get them in light blue, light green, and black.
