Google just launched a new tool in the Search Labs tab on its Google Search app on Android and iOS. The new tool is part of the Search Generative Experience (SGE) and is a completely different product from the Google Bard AI chatbot. This is intended to improve search results and will soon be made available for Chrome as well.

The goal of the new SGE feature is to help users interact with long articles more effectively as it summarizes the content into key points. It will be especially useful for people who are new to a certain topic. Google said the feature wouldn’t work for items behind a paywall.
Furthermore, the generated key points will include links that lead directly to the section from which the generative tool took the information. This would help the users to check the facts and acquire more information regarding it. The tool also helps users answer certain questions by extracting answers from the article.
For now, Search Labs’ new feature is only available in English and only to select users in the United States, and hasn’t provided a timeline for a global rollout.
